Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the epidemiology, etiology, and pathophysiology of obesity.
- Outline a sound weight loss plan that
incorporates dietary therapy, physical
activity, and behavior therapy, supplemented
by pharmacotherapy as appropriate.
- Describe strategies for helping patients
set appropriate weight loss expectations and
adhere to weight loss therapy.
- Identify barriers that could cause
treatment failure and possible solutions to
overcome these barriers.
- Explain how weight maintenance differs
from weight loss and cite the specific
behavioral techniques that support weight
maintenance.
